Give Peace of Mind this Valentine

Give Peace of Mind this Valentine’s Day

4 minute read

Valentine’s Day — our great day celebrating romantic love — conjures all kinds of stereotypical visions of fancy restaurants with white tablecloths, red wine, heart-shaped chocolate boxes, and smoky jazz from a corner piano. Then, picture this: as the pianist tinkles the keys to the opening bars of Van Morrison’s “Have I Told You Lately?”, the waiter comes to your table bearing a silver platter, from which he lifts the lid, revealing an elegant chocolate soufflé. Your partner cuts it open, finding an envelope enclosed within. Opening it, they find a handwritten note from you, simply reading:

“I think it’s time we planned our funerals.”

Hmmm … while you might not put it that way yourself, the idea of discussing funeral plans this Valentine’s Day with your partner, or even with your parents, children, or best friends, may not be as strange as it first seems..

Give Them The Gift of Peace

But Valentine’s Day is not necessarily just about romantic love, but about love for friends, and family too! Nobody knows our partners, parents or children like we do, and nobody knows us like them. But that doesn’t mean that it’s easy to talk about death with them. What we want to avoid is leaving our special people behind without having communicated our wishes to them, and nor do we want to find ourselves with the nagging feeling that we are not best honouring the memory of our loved ones, if it is we who have been left behind.

Each funeral is as different as the person whom it concerns. And, as we all know, a funeral is a potentially intricate affair; there are all kinds of things to consider, from whether or not to hold a ceremony, and, if so, how long and highly-attended it ought to be.

By discussing these things with those we hold dear in advance, we can both have our chocolate soufflé, so to speak, and eat it too: we can empower them with the knowledge they need to do right by us when the time comes, sending us off without any anxiety that they are making the right choices, and we can have the benefit of that peace of mind ourselves.

Save up to £100 with our Two Together plans

With that in mind, we at Aura have a range of funeral plans that could be right for you.

Our Perfectly Simple plan caters for those who don’t want an elaborate or formal ceremony, allowing their loved ones to simply organise the collection of their remains, cremation, and then return of their ashes (or perhaps their scattering at the crematorium), without any hassle. This allows their loved ones to plan a very intimate and personalised end-of-life celebration for them themed around their interests, outside of a formal setting, or for them to pass away with minimal fuss.

Or, there are our Wonderfully Imagined plans, which allow for the holding of a ceremony, at a length and scale determined by you. There is an option for those who would prefer an intimate farewell, or even a larger scale event depending on your wishes.

Regardless of which plan works best for you, you can maximise your value for money if you and your loved one – be they a partner, relative, or friend – purchase them together. This way, you can both benefit from the available discounts – up to as much as £100.00 off total plan-cost – as well as mutual peace of mind, knowing that everything has already been paid for and that you know what you need to do when the time comes. And best of all, you don’t need to compromise on any of the benefits if you purchase a Two Together funeral plan: you get all of the same features and options at even better value!
