Aura’s direct cremations in Scotland work like this: We will collect the one who has died and bring them into our care at state-of-the-art mortuary facilities. From there, once the paperwork has been completed, we will bring them to the crematorium in a private ambulance. Following shortly after some brief words from an attendant at the crematorium, they’ll be cremated.
The starting price for our unattended direct cremation services in Scotland is £1,095. The average cost of a funeral in the UK last year, according to SunLife, was £4,141, which is more than twice what you could pay with Aura. If you’d like to arrange an attended service, we can do this for you starting from £1,895.
This is absolutely a possibility with Aura in Scotland, if you feel it would be best. The process is very similar to that for the unattended service, but with a few key differences. The coffin will be brought into the crematorium and placed on the catafalque before the arrival of any guests. Much like with our unattended ceremonies, music dear to the one who has died will be playing, but in this case, the guests will arrive as it does so. There will then be a ceremony officiated and designed by a celebrant or religious official, personalised around the life of your loved one. Our services last between 15 and 45 minutes depending on the option you pick.
