There are lots of good reasons for buying a prepaid funeral plan, but one of the main ones is that it gives you a sense of control over the final stages of your life, as well as what happens in advance. In effect, you decide what kind of funeral service you want, and you pay for it in advance. Your money is held in an independently managed trust that is separate from Aura, and it is only accessed once it is time to organise your funeral. Another benefit is that you get to lock in today's prices, meaning that whatever you pay today for your funeral plan is as much as your funeral will ever cost, even if it doesn't happen for years after you've purchased the plan. Ultimately, it provides you with peace of mind knowing that things will move ahead exactly as you've planned, as well as giving your family reassurance that your funeral service will do you justice.
Thinking about end-of-life planning can be stressful for plenty of reasons, not least financial. And we know that funerals are expensive, even at the best of times. We hope it brings you a little relief to know that, regardless of whether you're in Aberdeen or elsewhere in Britain, our funeral plans could be as inexpensive as £1,695, which is significantly lower than the UK average as found in the SunLife Cost of Dying Report 2024, which stands at £4,141. It helps to remember that the cost of your funeral plan will vary depending on the sort of thing you're looking for. If you're ready to chat to us about your options, we'd be very glad to hear from you; why not give us a call, or simply request a quote?
We know that life can change at the drop of a hat, which is why we want you to have total flexibility. To put it simply, you can cancel your plan with us in Aberdeen at any time for any reason, and we will issue you with a full refund. There are no cancellation or amendment fees, and you'll only pay extra when you upgrade your plan as you pay the difference. What's more is that you can pay the full cost of your plan in one go, or over months in instalments, as you prefer. We're on hand ready to talk to you if you'd like to ask us any questions about this or to make any changes to an existing plan.
The process in Aberdeen is designed to be simple and easy to follow. When you buy your plan, you'll select a loved one to act as your representative once you've passed away. This person will receive an informative guide from us once you've made your purchase, which will explain all of the steps they need to take. Once they notify us that the time has come, we will put your plan into action, using your specifications and the money that you have already set aside for the purpose. If you arranged not to have any guests, we will focus on helping your family with the required legal paperwork; if you are having an attended service, we will also help them arrange the logistics.
One of the things that we are most proud of is the fact that we are a family-run organisation. Our founder, Paul Jameson, began Aura after he was diagnosed with motor neurone disease; he wanted to create something that would give people new options for end-of-life planning, at the same time as breaking the taboo around death, and Aura was the result. Today Paul is still involved with the running of the company, alongside his son, Dave (our CEO) and a family friend, Ben. The fact that we are family-run means that we have a uniquely caring ethos at the heart of our service. Our caring and empathetic team of funeral arrangers can meet your needs in Aberdeen, or anywhere else in Britain.
