If you’d like to arrange a funeral plan but don’t want to pay the full amount upfront, you’re not alone. With Aura’s no interest funeral plans, you can spread the cost over up to 24 months without paying anything extra. The price you’re quoted is the price you’ll pay.

This guide explains how our no interest funeral plans work, what’s included, how your money is protected, and whether spreading the cost could be the right choice for you and your family.

How Aura’s no interest funeral plans work

Aura’s funeral plans start from £1,795 for an unattended direct cremation plan. You can choose to pay:

  • In full as a single payment
  • Over 12 months
  • Over 24 months

Whichever option you choose, the total price stays the same. There are no additional charges for paying monthly and no interest added.

That’s because an Aura funeral plan isn’t a loan. You’re paying in advance for your funeral, either in full or over an agreed period, rather than borrowing money to pay for it. Since there’s no borrowing involved, there’s no interest to pay.

What’s included in the plan

Choosing to pay monthly doesn’t mean you receive anything less. Whether you pay in full or spread the cost over 12 or 24 months, your Aura funeral plan includes the same services and the same level of care.

Every Aura direct cremation plan includes the essential services your family will need:

  • Collection of the person who has died from anywhere in mainland Britain
  • Care for the person who has died in one of Aura’s care centres
  • A simple, dignified coffin
  • Transport to the crematorium and cremation fees
  • Hand delivery of your ashes within 21 working days

The only difference is how you choose to pay. The price and what’s included stay exactly the same.

Is my money protected?

Yes. If you’re wondering whether funeral plans are safe, every payment you make is held in a secure, independently managed trust until it’s needed. This is how we keep your money safe while protecting the funds you’ve set aside for your funeral.

The trust is separate from Aura and overseen by independent trustees. Aura Life is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). If we are unable to meet our obligations, you may be entitled to compensation through the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS), subject to eligibility.

Knowing your money is protected can offer valuable peace of mind when you’re planning ahead. It means you can feel confident that your funeral plan is secure, helping you make arrangements today that could make things a little easier for your loved ones in the future.

No interest funeral plans compared with waiting

Funeral costs have risen significantly over the past two decades. According to SunLife’s 2026 Cost of Dying Report, costs have increased by 146% since 2004.

Choosing a prepaid funeral plan allows you to secure today’s price, helping to protect you from future price increases. If you decide to spread the cost over 12 or 24 months, you won’t pay any more than someone who pays in full today, as there is no interest to pay. That means you can budget in a way that suits you while still locking in the funeral director’s costs covered by your plan.

What if I change my mind?

You can cancel your plan at any time and receive a full refund with no cancellation fee. While the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) requires funeral plan providers to offer a 30 day cooling off period, Aura goes much further. We offer a full refund with no cancellation fee at any time, giving you the flexibility to change your mind whenever you need to.

It’s a level of reassurance that’s difficult to find elsewhere, especially at Aura’s price point. So if your circumstances change, or you decide a funeral plan is no longer right for you, you won’t be left out of pocket.

Ready to plan ahead?

Choosing a funeral plan is a personal decision, and there’s no need to rush. Whether you decide to pay in full or spread the cost with a no interest payment plan, planning ahead can give you confidence that your wishes are known and help protect your loved ones from potential rising funeral costs.

FAQs

No. Whether you pay in full or over 12 or 24 monthly installments, the total price stays the same. There is no interest and there are no additional monthly charges.

No. A funeral plan is a prepaid arrangement for your own funeral. Your payments are held securely in an independent trust until they’re needed. It isn’t a form of credit, so there is no interest to pay.

Yes. You can cancel your Aura funeral plan at any time and receive a full refund with no cancellation fee.

If you’re paying for your funeral plan in monthly instalments and you pass away before you’ve made all your payments, here is what might happen next.

Your plan will be honoured if:

  • you’ve paid for it in full;
  • you’ve had the instalment plan for 24 months; or
  • you die as the result of an accident within the first 24 months.
An accidental death is one caused solely by a sudden, external, violent and visible accident, as defined in our Terms & Conditions.

If you die before your plan has been paid in full and before it has reached the 24-month cover point (and your death wasn’t due to a qualifying accident), your family has two options:

  • Continue with the funeral plan by paying the remaining instalments from your estate, so the plan can be used; or
  • Receive a full refund to your estate of everything you’ve paid, including any lump sum.
If the second option is chosen, alternative funeral cover must be chosen. Aura can assist with arranging a funeral when someone has passed away.
