Known for its cathedral skyline, historic streets and quiet strength, Canterbury is a city where many families choose simpler, more personal ways to say goodbye. Aura proudly supports communities across East Kent with [link_LCF] that are affordable, dignified, and free from the pressure of a traditional funeral.
Low-cost funerals in Canterbury allow families to say goodbye in a way that feels right to them. Many choose to scatter ashes in peaceful locations like Westgate Gardens, along the River Stour, or in nearby countryside around Chartham or Herne Bay.
Aura works with trusted local venues including Barham Crematorium, Memoria Faversham, Mid Kent Memorial Park and Crematorium in Chatham, and Herne Bay Cemetery. These well-respected facilities serve families across Canterbury, Whitstable, Herne Bay and the surrounding areas, offering calm, professional settings for both unattended and attended cremations.
Whether you’re planning ahead or arranging a funeral now, our team is here to offer clear guidance, flexible options and transparent pricing—so you feel supported every step of the way.
Whilst we proudly serve families in Canterbury and across the UK, please note that Aura is not physically based in Canterbury. We cannot guarantee that the cremation will take place in this specific area, unless it has been requested at an additional cost. If you have questions, our friendly team is here to help.

Aura was co-founded by Paul Jameson, his son Dave, and close friend Ben, following Paul’s motor neurone disease diagnosis. We treat every customer with the same compassion we’d want for our own families.

With a network of care centres across the country, we’ll endeavour to always keep things close to home. We can also work with any crematoria in the country to provide a dignified service in your area.

The families who have used our service have rated us 4.9/5 on Trustpilot. This marks us as the highest-rated national ‘Cremation Services’ provider on the platform, known for our compassion, transparency and care.

Behind every service is our compassionate team of Aura Angels. Their commitment to putting people first earned Aura two awards at the 2025 UK Customer Experience Awards for outstanding care and support.

We aim to keep our prices low without ever compromising on the quality of care, ensuring every family receives an exceptional level of service they can trust.

We understand that needs and circumstances can change, especially when dealing with difficult situations such as funeral arrangements, which is why we offer many levels of flexibility with all of our services.
You can choose what feels right for you, and our Angels will guide you through either option.

With an Aura unattended cremation, we collect the person who has died from where they’ve passed away and bring them into our care at state-of-the-art mortuary facilities.
From there, we bring them to the crematorium privately, words of respect will be spoken by the attendant and the cremation will take place shortly after.

If you’d like an elegant and concise cremation but feel you need the opportunity to see your loved one off at the crematorium, Aura also offers the option of an attended direct cremation service.
We offer a 10-minute service for up to 15 attendees, or a 40-minute service for as many people as can be held by the crematorium chapel.
Thousands of families across the UK trust Aura for our compassionate approach, affordable pricing and dedication to taking care of every detail. We’ve been independently rated by over 1,000 families, and as a result, we are the highest rated national ‘Cremation Services’ provider on Trustpilot.
